no matter how many places you look at on craigslist/padmapper/the like will not compare to actually being here and going to open houses. especially if you are looking in the hipper areas and have a somewhat low set budget (ie. you aren't going to throw your whole paycheck at some SOMA loft for $4500/month)

The wife and I tried for months from minneapolis (contacting potential places, having friends that already lived here check out places for us) and it never went anywhere. we finally said fuck it, put all of our shit in one of those UPack trailers, had them hold it. then rented a place on Airbnb for a month, and after looking for a couple weeks locked down a place, and had the Upack stuff shipped to our permanent address.

a friend of ours actually did the whole broker thing. it worked out well for them, but they had a bigger budget than we had to work with so there is that...

and if you are being brought out here by a firm...then maybe you don't have to worry about any of this shit as they will often put you up in a temp spot and hire a moving company :D

    • Thnx for sharing lvl_13
The firm is gonna cover my moving expenses so it's good. Finding the apt is gonna be a challenge.
