how much iOS work have you done? I make apps at work and then build games at home.
I'm building a game in cocos2d at the moment and have found having a strong knowledge of Objective C has helped, sometimes there's quicker ways of doing things in pure ObC.
All the advice I can give you is set yourself a deadline, because when you're working on your own games you can keep polishing them forever. It's better to have a shit game that's finished, than a brilliant game that will never be.
