the important thing is to think about what you want to do, but again as an experimental controller to get you going I can't think of anything better than the akai mpk mini unless you entirely abandon the idea of Ableton and go with the maschine or mikro which as mentioned earlier comes with its own library of sounds, vsts, software etc
