When I say ballpark it would be easy to say "in my past experience based on the description and example you showed I would think roughly $XXXX.XX" it doesn't mean that is what they are going to charge me but it gives me an idea of whether I can expect 100's or 1000's.
Although it did help to see that the fee would more than likely be an time+rate as opposed to flat fee based on usage.
