Step one, ask for a sample/draw down on your stock. Shouldn't be a problem.
I think your results will be a little better at least than printing on white stock. Might ask you printer about a double hit. I wouldn't varnish, tried that recently and it just looked like varnished shiny grey.
- double hit would practically guarantee a good resultmonospaced
