I think it shows a fundamental disrespect on the part of the potential new employer to demand that you do not even provide the typical 2 weeks notice to your current employer. I am sure they would be pissed as hell if roles were reversed. Sounds already like an indicator of what working with them might be like. Lack of respect and unrealistic demands.
