    i used to take a lot of whey protein shakes (only whey, not weight gainers) for about 3 years. i stopped taking them and i have not lost any muscle and to be honest i dont think they made any difference at all. in fact i think they made me put on a bit of weight/fat, not muscle, because now i look more cut/defined. people think i look bigger now then before though because im more lean - abs stand out more etc. i do cycle on creatine (1 month on, 1 off) and thats it. best thing to do is eat good healthy food with carbs and protein. quinoa is really good too as it contains a complete protein profile.
