He was so close to getting his shit together from hitting rock bottom.

The episode boils down to 3 scenes.
1 - Feye is his path to salvation from his past. Sticking with her would mean facing reality and basically eliminating his don draper persona.

2 - When he tells the secretary she makes him feel how he's always wanted to feel. Basically she is a replacement for Betty but without the selfish craziness. No questions about the past, life with her is about the present and future.

3 - when he tells his partners:
"she makes me very happy... and well its something we both want very much"

He hit the nail on the head with that one. Thats all he's thinking about. he loves being Don, he loves that she loves him for being Don.

Im not really disappointed in his decision, but if he was gonna do that why didnt he get a hotter fucking chick like rogers girl!! estuped!!!

    • He has faced his past, ie. didn't lie to his kids about his name on the wall. Faye loves him, but she'd be a pain in the long run.raf
    • no he didnt. he told 2 kids he goes by dick. thats not facing your past. lolsofakingbanned
    • Feye would be a pain because she would make him really face his past. life of truth or lie. he picked liesofakingbanned
