    Wedges work great. If you want a budget version, just buy the square footage you need and spray-mount them to masonite and fix to the walls in unison. The last audio bay I worked in had carpet floors and a soft ceiling, 3 walls were treated with a 4 foot vertical strip around the room. The 4th wall was an additional computer setup with cabinets. Home depot will cut the masonite to size if you request it. Combined with proper monitor speakers elevated to a parallel height they do an amazing job.

    Ook nail hangers are great for heavy dry wall istallation, unless you dry wall screw directly into the wall.
