Chase has been using those new ATMs since 2007. They have touchscreens, a deposit slot that takes, reads and adds up loose checks and cash without deposit slips.

The card reader is a swipe, not an insert, thus eliminating the potential for users to 1. lose their card to the machine, and 2. forget their card. I use one in my neighborhood regularly, and it is a huge improvement from older ATMs, but still only a step up.

It has full braille instructions at the base, as well as very friendly communication (as if that matters). It's also super fast and there is no gimmicky video garbage trying to get me to watch "The Bachelorette".

Clearly, if they were released in 2007, they were in development a while before then. BBVA got a minor upgrade to the concept of personal banking, most of which included a cosmetic shift that alienated the blind and disabled.

IDEO has succumbed to believing their own bullshit. Hype over quality. Good work.
