    I guess my philosophy on it is that subsidising something probably means it should die.

    I dont think any of the hollywood houses are subsidized, they're just good, and commercially strong.

    Royal Ballet, film, music channel 4 frankly. If people want it they'll pay for it. Propping up old forms of media like opera arent 'the arts' what people do everyday is 'the arts'

    In america they go after philanthropy. I think the philanthropy model is better. It produced the Ealing classics amongst others. the UK film industry has been shit because its subsidized, bland an generic.

    There are some very very wealthy people in the arts from elton john to paul mccartney. Maybe they should help fund younger talent.

    State sponsored creativity is universally shit.
