    eieio, I agree with you that it is a shameful war, but as must_dash points out, Beckham is there supporting troops not the cause.

    I think it is a quite convoluted perception that because Beckham went to see the troops, that people will now view the war as justified because he went there. His visit to Afghanistan boosts his own public image, and boosts the morale of troops over there. It does not promote the war as a whole.

    He is helping the people of his home nation on the frontline, not the cause behind it. A lot of troops serving don't believe in the cause they are fighting for, a visit from someone like Beckham gives them hope and a reminder that at some point they will get to go home.
