I use Fido, they've been good. I had Telus (before my iPhone) for about 7 years for internet and mobile, and I would never, ever, ever give them money again. Worst telecom in Canada, in my opinion.

When I got my iPhone (it was a US iPhone that I had unlocked. This was before iPhones were released in Canada.) I called Rogers and I told the guy I wouldn't sign a contract, because I already owned my iPhone and didn't want to be locked in to a company I'd never used before. His response was to scream at me over the phone, "YOU HAVE TO SIGN A CONTRACT. YOU HAVE TO. WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME?" My response was "Listen, guy, I'm not even a customer of yours yet and you're already yelling at me! You're YELLING!" Mind you, I was laughing at his absurd rant, so that probably didn't help.

I hung up and called Fido. They were friendly, gave me a better deal, AND the guy gave me some tips on downloading firmware hacks to get around the pre-iPhone rules about accessing Fido's data network. I was shocked.

Long story short: Fido is cool. The only draw back is out in the country there's no reception, but I think that's the same on Rogers, and likey Telus and Bell's iPhone.

    • *psst* Fido IS Rogers and has been for years. Sorry.welded
    • Rogers owns Fido, but they're not the same company. Very different customer service.nb
    • Depends on who you ask. Rogers is pretty crap, yes, but all Telco customer service is a crap shoot.welded
