I played it years ago, forgot to cancel my membership for a year and ended up paying a hundred pounds or so, stupidly. d'oh.
I didn't get into it then, because I was working too hard.
I'm not going to get into it now, because I need to work harder.
But this is the only current massively multiplayer game I've ever been truly interested by - some of the stories you read on geekier corners of the internet, about the Eve universe, are truly (in a Gibsonian meta future sense) quite amazing. Whole political systems consisting of thousands of players collapsing or cannibalising themselves, massive heists and corporate skullduggery... it all sounds like a lot of 'fun'.
But, like mikabast says, you need to put a lot of time in.
