Think about how PCs are produced. One company builds the OS, a number of others the hardware, and many more much of the software you'll need to run basic functionality on your machine. No wonder with all those points in the supply chain you get errors and breakdowns.

Then in order to get the prices down the retailer bloats the system with shitty preloaded software that no one wants or needs. Oh sure, you can reformat your machine or install the OS from scratch, but for your average user, have fun watching the Norton Antivirus reminder pop up every single time you start the machine after your "free trial" runs out reminding you to either give them money or "remind me again in 24 hours." What a fucking joke.

Sure, Steve Jobs may be an obsessive compulsive dickrod, but at least with Apple you know they've kept up the quality control every step of the way.

    • true. if youre knowledgeable you dodge those problems. if your lazy and dont get it you spend double.deathboy
    • haha. yeah, i hated that norton stuff popping up. antivirus. internet security. etc.akrokdesign
    • kind aliek if you go in for an oil change and end up paying 300 bucks for wiper blades/fuel filter/oilchange.deathboy
    • just dont try to feign ignorance as something to be proud ofdeathboy
    • Yeah ultimately I just prefer the Apple UI...and performance seems better, more stableukit
    • That's what controlling the whole production process gets you I think, better qualityukit
    • and comparison is on what system/stats? On current standards i have always found pc to be better. Mac improved significantly with intel and now are very close, and performance deals with setupdeathboy
    • greatly with the intel and closed the gap. now perfornace is based on setup/hardware. I can setup pc to perform better for half the cost, thats me thoughdeathboy
    • half the cost and no sacrifices.deathboy
    • not exactly. gets u better quality, but more liek a union and as u see union dont get better results for the increased costsdeathboy
    • costs. competition is the best way to get better results. be interesting if they opened there os to work on all hardwaredeathboy
    • Dude it's not at all like a union LOL You gotta bring politics into everything?;)ukit
    • well im done with the apple/pc convo. think its time to play some borderlands dlcdeathboy
    • ha yea. and as union i was speaking economics not politics. closed systems innovation suffers usually and at higher costsdeathboy
    • Have fun, just don't let those popups and viruses throw you off too much son!ukit
    • higher costs.deathboy
    • Innovation suffers? Yeah, cos Apple hasn't innovated at all right? hmmm...iPod, iPhone...ukit
    • BTW, if you ever worked at MSFT you'd realize it's the most bloated, convoluted bureaucracy ever (I didn't work there but did some consulting on site for a month)ukit
    • some consulting on site for a month)ukit
    • my buddys not online... im saying all mac development is around a single set of hardware for new releases. when its released its 6 months behinddeathboy
    • released its already 6 months behind, where win is more dynamic and hardware/drivers are faster things.deathboy
    • ipod/iphone... think iphone is us not sure about ipod. i dont get the use of a smartphone, probably doesnt fit my lifestyle. but ill say theyre doing good with lots of app optionsdeathboy
    • but theyre doign good with app options by the advertising. wether theyre useful or not.deathboy
    • haha, cmon... most people would tell you both were pretty revolutionaryukit
    • Case in point, Microsoft's poor attempt at a rip off (Zune) - is that innovation? Your theory doesn't really hold.ukit
    • I try not to indulge in gratuitous Microsoft bashing since they prop up the local economy here, but let's face it, they couldn't innovate their way out of a paper bagukit
    • innovate their way out of a paper bagukit
