    i think i could be suited to answering this question.

    all chinese fonts have western characters in, but mostly as an afterthought. generally a nice chinese font will have the 70ish standard characters thrown in as arial, times or something nasty.
    unicode font sets tend not to contain everything but the font style is not consistent - a nightmare if you're having to use chinese systems fonts across browsers.

    for print. set your type in what ever you want, then go back and change all english characters to a western font of your choice.
    If you have huge amounts of content god help you. or out source to china where it's cheaper to have someone chinese help you. (possibly better than asking god to be honest.)
