My uncle got the surgery in 1983 and loves it to this day. He's been part of a study for nearly 30 years with hundreds of other early adopters. His eyes have not gotten worse. To claim that there are no long-term studies is ridiculous.

As of now there are no known long-term side-effects except for the fact that yes, the surgery is a "reset" and your eyes may still change post procedure.

I inquired about the surgery myself since I've been wearing contacts for almost 15 years and would love to not need them anymore. When I asked my eye doctor if I should do it, he lowered his glasses, looked me in the eye and said, "I'm still wearing these. That should tell you something."

    • lol, wow. So is that the consensus with eye doctors?baseline_shift
    • I wonder if its about the actual eye health, or about keeping his list of paying patients long.baseline_shift
    • in all fairness... nobody trusts a doctor without glasses on.lambsy
    • My optician said much the same to me a few years, she knew no opthalmic professionals who'd had their own eyes done.comicsans
