The parentheses, should be, parenthetically, a third color. Different from the text, different from the link, different from the ground.
Parentheses are the very foundational structure of what you are doing here--setting off a little link to the side, by itself. Think of them as two nurturing hands which cocoon the wee link, and protect it from the run-of-the-mill "text." They are not the link; they are not the text. They are a third, beautiful thing!
