  Do you surf? I moved out here from NYC over a year ago and I really enjoy it. The best part of LA is the west side, in my opinion, so Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu, Marina Del Rey are all great places to live and work. Downtown has some nice areas. The Valley is kinda lame, so try to avoid that if you can. You will get the worst commute of traffic if you live in the Valley and commute downtown or to the west side...Hope that helps - shoot me an email if u need anything else
