The whole 'smog' thing is kinda passe now. I believe once they started making the cargo ships dock in Long Beach instead of the LA Harbor it cleared up.
Pros: Every band on earth plays here once a year, plenty of nice girls to look at, higher than average work possibilities, some nice outdoorsy stuff (if you're willing to drive an hour or two), good restaurants, pretty decent bars.
Cons: Expensive, dating can be a bit tough (yes even for a supremely handsome gentleman such as myself), traffic sucks, pretty much no mass transit.
