    I was looking at

    http://higginsbuilding.com/

I think they are a bit expesive for there non -condo status.. if you are looking for a bargain you should move to St. Louis..just kidding.

but if you cant move try looking for a place with at least the basics :plumbing and utilities in working order.. as well as the windows .. whether they open and keep out the noise ( you are looking for a bargain) and dirt .. newer is better.. I lived in a 3000sf loft with one door.. and lots of leaks ( floor, ceiling window) These areas were the things that took the most time and energy to fix and were annoying until they were fixed..

If you are busy dont do the fixer upper alone.. you will be in a constant state of unfinished flux...if you can afford a decent finished place do..

I would and do avoid condos at all reasonable costs.. fees.. personalities and more fees.. even f you can and do rent to a sub leasee..

buy a place if you can. Interest rates are creeping up but are at 40 year lows.. do a financial projection of the relative value at 3, 5 and 10 years.. assume some appreciation ( 10 % /year)and evaluate your potential gain on your investment.. 1200 / month at
5% gets you aprox. 225k worth of place .. plus utilities and Insurance and taxes... Assuming you pay those sorts of things.. Plus money in your pocket when you sell.. Rent is just a gift to your landlord.

    :p

Jazx you should check the #1 loft here( see link below) its the same price and a better building and local.. the #2 is huge.. if they are available.
