I understand and maybe got a little on the personal defense a little too early in the game.
All I know/care is that there IS a distinction between hip hop music and a lot of the mainstream shit that passes today as hip hop music. I suppose it is short sighted to refer to one as Rap and one as Hip Hop, when they both are based around similar techniques/ideas/philosophies. I guess it's just annoying because one is virtually void of substance, whereas the other is built on decades of foundation & culture.
