I personally hate Es that look like backward 3s. I think the font you've chosen is conveying a thin weak image. It doesn't strike me as "creative" enough. I think the gray parts make it feel sort of like the logo of a fashion company or a cheesy R&B singer in the 80's.
I think your first try with the initials was way better. But seeing the 2 different logos side by side, there is little, if any, consistency between them. What's the rationale behind the decisions you made? What feeling are you trying to convey with this logo? What does it say about you or your work? Your logo should speak for you, and this just isn't saying much.
