I was a Pentax guy and came across a good 5D offer half a year ago, someone was upgrading to a more advanced model.
I bought it just to play with it and possibly sell later. I just wanted to find out what this full frame thing was about. A friend of mine had said it was "the kind of optical leap you get when going from 35mm film to middle format", whatever it meant.
I still don't really know what the full frame thing is, but it is a keeper, like no other camera I had before.5D images have this hard to describe full-on in-your-face feel to them. ISO 800 is perfectly usable and I use ISO 1250 often. The graininess of Canon noise is very pleasant, film-like so it doesn't bother me. I never liked Nikon noise and Pentax noise is a tragedy, looks like sawdust.
Used 5D's are quite cheap now and will be cheaper when new models arrive.
I'm still planning to get a spare crop body, probably 400D or 450D, for portability and the 60% extra range in telephoto.
