Because u r asking that means you don;t actually have that much experience (otherwise you would head to your local photo store and buy yourself a par of strobes). Outdoor you work with bounce boards as you have plenty of light. If you are shooting something specific you will use strobes but then you also need a portable genny. Inside you can use "house" light with enough kick (500w bulbs).
