To follow up: The display quality isn't very good on the 17", the lighting is rarely even and it only gets worse over time. Granted, mine is a pre-LED model but from what I've heard it hasn't gone away completely. Verdict: If you don't need 17", don't bother. If you do need it, you're probably better off getting a decent external one. I bought it just because getting an external monitor wasn't really an option for me, but I do wish I could've just gotten 15" and been okay.
