  This is what I do and have found it very successful:

  1) I give them 1-3 packages:

  a) Package 1 = Set Price A, includes 4 designs and 1 revision
  b) Package 2 = Set Price B, includes 6-8 designs and X no. of revisions
  c) Package 3 (Full Branding) = Starting price, includes 6-8 designs+ plus multiple revisions, charged as a package or hour (depending on client)

  2) Extra revisions or designs are charged by hour

  It gives the client a package to work with and they usualy go with it.

  But best to check out client, time-frame (if its a tight deadline, then charge more) and take 50 up front and 50 on completion. Then send your files.
