Well I think more than 1,000 fomts activated can fuck up yer 'puter, so I just get into the habit of turning them all off every so often and let the auto activator turn em back on as needed. I ask it to manage all fonts by copying them into its own folder, so it doesn't mess about with system fonts etc.
Its also handy for deleting large groups of fonts that are installed by other programmes which can just cause your puter to run slowly.
