OK, so this has prompted me to look through Illy a little deeper, so I'm now ashamed to admit that I've NEVER used the Paragraph Options, Area Type options or Paragraph Styles. These minor sections would've saved me quite a bit of time and grief over the years had I bothered to investigate them.

My method for making grids has always been to set a Grid that has cels that approximately fit into the page, then I score off the typo grid with a mess of guides, using the cel sizes for guttering, etc. But, basically doing it all by hand (thankfully, I've never had to do more than an 8 page booklet).

So, erm.. I feel like a bit of a mug.

On the plus side, I think I can probably forget having to buy inDesign in the near future, like I thought I might - the things I've learned here should more than suffice for doing a 24 page booklet, right?

Still, given that there are only so many combinations achievable on any given piece of paper, I don't think it's too outlandish to imagine there's some sort of widget to aid grid creation though. Nor would it be that necessary either, in light of the above. Ho Hum.

Thanks for your input, neue, even if I do feel like a bit of a tool right now.
