    personally, and i think this is what the software companies secretly think too, is that allowing for a realistic amount of sharing creates a solid, experienced and knowledgable user base that will one day maybe hopefully probably buy it themselves and work for a company who does pay for it . it also ultimatly adds to the general exposure of the product by these people going to web forums and talking about it etc. Subsequently a large and loyal bunch of potential paying customers is created and that's not a bad thing.
