my gf's dad can be a bit racist sometimes, he's a nice guy but it's just that he's never lived outside the small predominantly white part of england that he lives in. It freaks me out when I visit that there are literally only white people around their village.
He uses phrases such as 'just off the boat' and I have to fight every instinct in me not to confront him about it, I know I really should call him on it but I don't want to cause tension
