  What I have been taught is that any type work should be done in inDesign. So raster-based artwork of course created in photoshop, vector stuff in Illustrator, import that into inDesign with the document at correct dimensions plus Bleed or what ever, and combine with type. (Unless you have die lines of course then just stick to Illustrator ). Export as a PDF with proper color profiles. Then go through the pre-press work with PDF.
