  Well, it means trying to do something, like intimidate or bribe a witness, or a juror, or a victim, to prevent the true, natural, and uninhibited course of justice.

  Let's say, for example, you beat the hell out of your neighbor's wife. And your neighbor sees it. So you go beat the hell out of your neighbor, and tell him that if "he says anything to anybody about I beat hell out of you, or your wife, I'll fucking kill you."

  Well, that would be perverting the course of justice. And an awful mess in your neighborhood!
