Yup, not that I'm the best designer in the world, but my degree had utterly no relevance to the various jobs I've had over the years, it always came down to ability and competence. Strangely, I was able to get a couple of half-decent jobs without having either of the two.
It's educational getting hard-ass professional agency experience, but ultimately, I'd much rather work for myself. You kind of strike me that way too.
