    Sorry to burst your bubble df1... but many cubes did indeed show very fine fractures in the casing.

    Yes, Apple attempted to flim flam their way out of the situation and explain away the crack/*wink*mold line*wink*/fracture as an artifact of the manufacturing process, but people who threw down about $2k for what was even at the time an underowered system based primarily on the coolness factor were quite understandably going to flip out when they see cracks appearing here and there (around rivets, drives, etc.) on the expensive thing's plastic casing.
