I am an immigrant and I remember an outrage when UK govt. wanted people to pass a test before obtaining citizenship. What a load of bollocks. It is obvious to me - you want to join in, make a slight effort, learn the lingo at least. Yes, it is your right not to speak English after 10 years of stay, but hey, it's you who declares himself as a 5th class citizen and don't be surprised to be treated as such.
Jaline, just because 200000 of my compatriots came to Ireland, that doesn't give me a right to install mini-Poland here, saying "hey, Irish, you're multicultural now, shut up and be nice". Obviously the country is evolving and I am being a part of the process, but I have no right to demand anything.
That all doesn't have too much to do with Blair's speech, he's just looking for a way to control muslim radicals. But I agree that if someone comes to plant mines, should be given a boot right away. Some western systems are so easily abused.
