    Their mysql and php versions are waAAAAAAY behind.

    That sums them up really. I'm guessing that they are too nervous to roll out PHP5 and MySQL5, or simply incapable of running both (as they should).

    I was considering a switch to MT a while back, and they lost out because of this.

    1&1 (surprisingly) was way ahead of most hosts with PHP5 and MySQL5 support.
