    On the other side though, A responsible fuel tax, that paid for a replacement fuel infrastructure(electric, hydrogen, biodesiel etc.) would have been appropriate since the late 70's when Jimmy Carter suggested it. But non-market forces fought it tooth and nail.(Car makers, Oil producers, etc) Almost every federal fuel tax has been voted out, and yet they still subsidize the US and foreign oil industry.
