I used to make some clothes for myself back in the days when I had time for such sillyness. The easiest entrance is to first modify your existing clothes. Once you have ruined your clothes you have to make some by yourself. First copy the forms from existing clothes you like and then once you get the hang of it start experimenting. It is true that the hard bit is making the same clothes look good on other people. It is relatively easy to make one unique piece if you got the patience for it.
