When I first got it no dead pixels, I check every couple days. I found 1 about 2mm from the right edge of the screen. I only notice it if I move my head to the right in front of it, so I'm not going to send it back. My friend got 1 about 2 weeks before me and he says his is perfect. As far as gaming, I've read widescreengamingforum and it seems pretty good. My friend is a big gamer and he loves it.
Just make sure your graphics card can run widescreen and makes sure its dvi
