PC CS2. These were just examples, what I really wanted to do (the other day, it's coming back to me now...) was to pick a color from a jpg and use it as one color in a gradient, but the shift key solved that problem for me.
But thanks, I'm a noob in AI. And for you other noobs out there I would like to pass on the tip that if you click and hold the eyedropper, you can use it on anything on your screen, provided that the Illustrator window isn't maximized.
