Hi:
I think there is some sonfusion here. I think what you are being told is correct, but the wording may be wrong. In freehand it is "convert to paths". In AI, it is under the type menu, but is phrased as "Create Outlines". Thats it. Just make sure you select all before doing this so anything off the pasteboard gets selected as well. This happens a lot with vector files. I am sure thats what the printer meant. Any other questions, feel free to email me.
