I was given a heads up on the pennisula for possible apartments and or room for rent. anyone live in or around the area that could give me some details about it? Thanks in advance.

SPENDY. You can probably find a room for rent for 1200-1500 a month... or you can find a 1 bedroom apartment near the peninsula for 1300-1800. But you might be seeing some craziness like 1700-2000.
Living near the peninsula is like living in the Pacific Palisades or Malibu in LA.
I would recommend you moving into the number streets at least (which is totally fun and awesome) or even newport costa mesa border. Thats a very very nice area just a bit more inland (by about 5 friggin minutes). You can rent a house in costa mesa for the mount a 1 bedroom in balboa would cost you. If youre gunna drop that kind of money.. get a place with a yard so you can bbq and drive to the beach faster than you can say mississippi.
I grew up in CM/NB/HB and spend a lot of time in Corona Del Mar, Laguna, Dana Point and San Celemente.
