how do i speak english with client?!

Apparently my client doesn't understand i can not in any way get the exact colour if they don't give me PMS name, Hex number or CMYK Value. simply sending me a scanned photo of their old business card does not give me enough information to get the exact colour! And every monitors displays colour differently! what i see and what you see will never be the same! give me the god damn original file already!

how do you speak that in english?

Coca-Cola Hugging Machine

oh... i'd be humping that machine allll day.

http://youtu.be/-A-7H4aOhq0

http://editorial.designtaxi.com/news-coke1604/7.jpg

(Singapore)
"A new Coca-Cola vending machine at the National University of Singapore dispenses free cans in exchange for hugs.

Instead of the usual logo, the words ‘Hug Me’ is written across the machine’s front in the iconic red and white.

The ‘Hug Machine’ is programmed to dispense a can of Coke when a person wraps their arms around it—and no, it simply doesn’t accept money!

It is part of a new campaign by Ogilvy & Mather to spread some love and well, Coke.

"Whether you were hugging the machine or experiencing the event online, our goal was the same—to put a smile on your face and share that emotional connection," Coca-Cola Company spokesman Leonardo O’Grady said in a press release.

"Reactions were amazing... people really had fun with it and at one point we had four to five people hugging the machine at the same time as well as each other!"

The company plans to install more of such machines across Asia in the coming months."

Seattle woman marries lesbian building.

A Seattle woman recently exchanged one-sided wedding vows with an abandoned warehouse building that is set to be demolished to make way for a new apartment building.
In December, Babylonia Aivaz and 16 friends occupied the warehouse, located on 10th and Union streets, to protest the planned development of an apartment complex on the site.
"Gentrification is happening," Aivaz said. "It's a serious issue that affects poor people and especially people of color and this is just the beginning of the fight."
Calling it a "gay marriage," Aivaz was asked by the attending minister if she would "love and cherish and protect this warehouse."
Aivaz reportedly responded in verse, quoting the Cat Power song "Sea of Love."
"Come with me my love, to the sea, the sea of love. I want to tell you how much I love you."
She then added her own verses:
"Do you remember when we met? I cleaned your rooms and washed your floors, built community, opened some doors. You changed my life. I'll never forget the day we met. I'll cherish your community sprit until the day I die."
After the ceremony, a large banner reading, "I Do" was hung outside the building as the estimated 50 attendees sang, "Lean on Me." Nonetheless, demolition on the building began ahead of schedule, starting last Friday.
Aivaz caused some unintended controversy with her ceremony. A pair of protestors showed up to the event, objecting to her use of the term "gay marriage" because it weakens the fight to legal same-sex marriage in the state.
"With the delicate nature of Washington state and the attempt to legalize gay marriage, I find her saying it's a gay marriage disrespectful," Phoenix Lopez told KOMO.
"Her saying it's a gay marriage sets the community back with Christians and politicians and gives them a chance to say, 'See, we told you, they're going to want to marry everything if we give them the opportunity,'" added fellow protestor Johnny McCollum-Blair. "Having compassion against something you love, I understand, but to call it a gay union is irresponsible."

Need a Colour Management Wizerd!

Ran into a bit problem trying to print my own photograph. hope somebody here and help me out.
I tried to print a Photo of my own which is mostly B/W with selected area in red. On my Epson SP1400. Some how print a hint of green in some black colour area. Even after i desaturated the heck out of that area.
The original colour space of the photo is in sRGB IEC 61966-2.1. I converted it to Epson 1400 1410 UPGP in photoshop because that's the colour profile of the paper suggested by the printer. Then use the Print Menu I let photoshop manage colour. Printing with Epson 1400 1410 UPGP as the printer profile. Paper as Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy.

Is there any mistake with my process? or is it just the printer?

Letter from Chinese earthquake victim in Japan.

Almost cried after reading this letter from a online news sire. as everyone know Chinese and Japanese doesn't really have a good history with eachither. infact many Chinese don't like Japanese because the the invasion Japanese did in WWII. but this letter shows otherwise. no I haven't been on the bandwagon posting on twitter or facebook about anything related to Japanese earthquake. however I think this letter deserves it's own thread.

"This is a mail from my friend
She asked me to post for her
She is in Sendai, Japan
Rescued early morning today
After being trapped for 8 hours
I hope you can finish reading
Hope you are a good person
Respect others
Even if you want to insult
Please don’t leave traces here
——————————

Aren’t we all comrades?
Just because you are in China
Just because you don’t have family or friends in Japan
You can say words like let Japan sink?
The Chinese people in Japan aren’t people?

What is hate
Who can tell me what hate is
When you’re standing on a roof surrounded by sea water
When in that water, is your home
When in that water, are your friends and family
Do you still know what hate is?

He kills you, so you must kill him
Then I think patriots with this kind of ideals
Can go to Japan for school or work
Then choose a rush hour
Take a knife, and kill whoever you see
I promise you can kill 100 people
I promise you can kill all types of people
I promise you can become the headline news
I promise you can fulfill your heroic dream

But you have to know
That in those 100 people

Maybe 10 were innocent children
Maybe 10 were house wives on their way home with groceries
Maybe 10 were workers working hard to provide for their families
Maybe 10 were elders
Maybe 10 were youngsters hanging out
Maybe 10 were part-timers delivering take-out
Maybe 10 were people waiting for a bus
Maybe 10 were passerbys
Maybe 10 were those who don’t know why you killed them
Maybe 10 were Chinese

Even if there really is someone you want to kill
I advice you
Choose carefully before you act

I don’t know how the Nan Jin massacre looked like
I hate those Japanese soldiers
I hate that they killed our people
But today
I felt like I saw a massacre
Standing on the roof
If you want to see
Look carefully
Sendai is you patriots’ heaven
Corpses are right there
There are some torn limbs
There are whole bodies
If you have good eyes
You can see the small hands of young children
If you focus
You can even see some corpses hugging together

Do you have any sympathy
Do you know that before Mother Nature
We humans are one family

My boyfriend works at a company by the coast
Till now we haven’t been able to contact each other
I know, we can’t see each other ever again
Who told you that only the Japanese died in this tragedy
Who told you that this tragedy is karma
Yes
It’s karma
The man kind’s karma is here

Right now I want to live
I want to live well
Right here in Japan
I want to live well
I’m afraid that if I died
Many people will blame Japan

There were over 80 people stuck in the building
In those eight hours
It’s true that they treated me like a Chinese
I have anemia so I felt like I couldn’t go on
A house wife with a baby beside me
Gave me some milk powder
The 20 year old girl sitting beside me helped me find water
Just like this
I’m still here
Perhaps it wasn’t the milk powder that saved
But their spirits saved me

Among the 80 people there were only two cellphones that worked
Everyone let the Chinese call home first
I was the second who got to call
Everyone lined up to call home
Till the end, some Japanese friends didn’t get through to their families
They understood there was no need
They gave up

After around 4 hours
Some girls were hugging and sobbing
Some were crying to themselves
Some were lying on the ground looking up at the sky
Some were still trying to call for help

I sat by the wall
Looked at the Japanese house wife beside me
She kept talking to her baby
Soothing the child to sleep and breast feeding
I miss mom
I want to go home

There were too many things I can’t forgot in those 8 hours
I’ve never been through so much pain in my life
Thanks to God
I was saved

What else do I want to say
I know I have so much more to tell everyone
But I’m so tired
Tired from crying
After the corpses are found
I might have to go identify them

Mom
Can I not go?
I don’t want to go
I’m so scared
I’ll see so many dead bodies
I don’t want to go anywhere

I hope this mail will get sent
Please help me publish
Maybe a lot of people will scold us
But
I hope you will know a bit more

I’m tired
Too scared to sleep
There are still small quakes
I have nowhere to hide
Mom
Are you watching?
I’m alive
Please don’t worry
Sleep for a while"

Yet we still have little mother fuckers saying this is karma paying them back for pearl hobour.

FFFFound...ya... again...

just received an email from this guy selling found invites...

"Saw you on QBN looking for a ffffound invite.

I have a ffffound invitation and I can make an account for you, but I can't give it away for free because of how rare they are (I had to pay for mine too). Here is my proof that I have an account http://ffffound.com/home/ffffoun…

If you are willing to pay the $30 I'm offering an invite for (pretty reasonable in light of how coveted these invites are) then follow these directions.

1. Choose a username you would like and let me know what it is.
2. I will create the account for you (BEFORE you pay me) and then send you the URL for the FFFFOUND domain with your own custom username to prove that it's real. If you want even further proof that this is legit then you can send me an image of your choice and I will upload it to your account and send you you the URL to it.
3. You send $30 to through PayPal (I'm a verified member, by the way)
4. When I see that you've completed the transaction I will send you an email with all of the account information for you to log in and you can change your email/password, etc.

And yes I have a ffffound invitation but I'm only making an account for you (Your account will not have an invitation to give away)

Let me know if you're still interested"

Turn Your Office Paper Waste Into Toilet Paper

"When it comes to information security this product really hits the target. Shredding of confidential and non-confidential printed information now a days is a normal activity within a company and if you can do it yourself it is a perfect job to be outsourced. But wouldn’t it be nice to save that money by doing it yourself and getting something back in return. Well, Nakabayashi a leading Japanese manufacturer of various office products and services such has bookbinding services, paper/office products, digital related products & services and environmental-friendly products and machine manufacture company Oriental jointly developed a small automatic toilet paper..."

You've Dishonored Your Country!

North Korea's football coach has reportedly been punished for the team's poor performance at the World Cup by being forced to work as a builder.

Kim Jong-Hun received the shameful sentence after he and his players were subjected to a six-hour grilling by 400 communist party officials, South Korean media reported.
North Korea, in its first World Cup since 1966, lost all three group games including a humiliating 7-0 defeat to Portugal during the tournament.

The squad were ordered to the World Cup inquisition at the People's Palace of Culture in the capital Pyongyang when they returned from South Africa.

Jong-Hun was punished after being accused of "betraying the trust" of Kim Jong-un - one of Supreme Leader Kim Jong-il's sons and heir apparent.

To add to his shame, the coach was also booted out of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The players also shared the embarrassment for not succeeding in their" ideological struggle", but were allegedly forced to blame the coach for their exit.

Only two players escaped the wrath of the hardline officials - Japanese-born Jong Tae-se and An Yong-hak, who flew to Japan after the tournament.

However, media reports said the players got off lightly by North Korean standards.
"In the past, North Korean athletes and coaches who performed badly were sent to prison camps," a South Korean intelligence source told the Chosun Ilbo newspaper.

During the tournament almost all live broadcasts of the North Korean team were banned on state television to avoid national embarrassment.

But the ban was lifted for North Korea's game with Portugal after the team put up a valiant struggle against Brazil to lose 2-1.

Chinese companies 'rent' white foreigners

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/BUSI…

I don't even know where to begin... O_O

Beijing, China (CNN) -- In China, white people can be rented.

For a day, a weekend, a week, up to even a month or two, Chinese companies are willing to pay high prices for fair-faced foreigners to join them as fake employees or business partners.

Some call it "White Guy Window Dressing." To others, it's known as the "White Guy in a Tie" events, "The Token White Guy Gig," or, simply, a "Face Job."

And it is, essentially, all about the age-old Chinese concept of face. To have a few foreigners hanging around means a company has prestige, money and the increasingly crucial connections -- real or not -- to businesses abroad.

"Face, we say in China, is more important than life itself," said Zhang Haihua, author of "Think Like Chinese." "Because Western countries are so developed, people think they are more well off, so people think that if a company can hire foreigners, it must have a lot of money and have very important connections overseas. So when they really want to impress someone, they may roll out a foreigner."

Or rent one.

Last year, Jonathan Zatkin, an American actor who lives in Beijing, posed as the vice president of an Italian jewelry company that had, allegedly, been in a partnership with a Chinese jewelry chain for a decade.

When is being foreign a career advantage?

Zatkin was paid 2,000 yuan (about $300) to fly, along with a couple of Russian models, to a small city in the central province of Henan where he delivered a speech for the grand opening ceremony of a jewelry store there.
They have not told me what my name is today. I think it is Lawrence or something
--Beijing actor pretending to be a New York architect
RELATED TOPICS

* China

"I was up on stage with the mayor of the town, and I made a speech about how wonderful it was to work with the company for 10 years and how we were so proud of all of the work they had done for us in China," Zatkin said. "They put up a big bandstand and the whole town was there and some other local muckety-mucks."

The requirements for these jobs are simple. 1. Be white. 2. Do not speak any Chinese, or really speak at all, unless asked. 3. Pretend like you just got off of an airplane yesterday.

Those who go for such gigs tend to be unemployed actors or models, part-time English teachers or other expats looking to earn a few extra bucks. Often they are jobs at a second- or third-tier city, where the presence of pale-faced foreigners is needed to impress local officials, secure a contract or simply to fulfill a claim of being international.

"Occasionally companies want a foreign face to go to meetings and conferences or to go to dinners and lunches and smile at the clients and shake people's hands," read an ad posted by a company called Rent A Laowai (Chinese for "foreigner") on the online classified site thebeijinger.com.

It continued: "There are job opportunities for girls who are pretty and for men who can look good in a suit."

People like Brad Smith. When Smith -- the nom de plume of the Beijing-based American actor -- answered CNN's phone call on a recent morning, he was standing outside a meeting room at a Ramada Inn in Hangzhou, a city about 100 miles outside of Shanghai. Today's job: Pretend to be an architect from New York and give design plans for a new museum to local officials.

"They have not told me what my name is today. I think it is Lawrence or something," said Smith -- unlike some jobs, no fake business cards were given to hand out.

Earlier that morning he went over his script with his Chinese "business partners" at a Kentucky Fried Chicken. "It says, 'Good morning distinguished leaders. It is my privilege to participate in this program'," said Smith, who asked that his real name not be used for fear it could jeopardize future jobs.

If Smith is asked a question, he is told to pretend to answer as his "translator" pretends to understand.

Occasionally, these jobs can go awry. Smith said 18 months ago Beijing police showed up at his apartment after a financial company he worked at for a couple of months in Xi'an, a city in western China, allegedly swindled millions of yuan out of clients.

"That company said I was the guy in charge," he said. "I didn't even remember the company's name. After that, I decided I was never going to use my passport again with these fake companies. The small gigs are much less dangerous." Sometimes companies will hire Caucasians simply to sit in the office a few hours a day near the window where clients and customers can see them.

White women are also a hot commodity, sometimes to pose as phony foreign girlfriends, or, in the case of Vicky Mohieddeen, to pretend to be an oil tycoon.

Mohieddeen, who is Scottish, took a job in 2008 to attend what she describes as some sort of "oil drilling conference" in Shandong province for 300 yuan ($44). Several busloads of foreigners, with nationalities ranging from Pakistani to Nigerian, were trucked to the event, she said. They were greeted by brass bands and feted with a sumptuous dinner.

"I was like, 'Yeah, we have a lot of oil in Scotland.' I didn't know what to say. It was a bit nerve-racking. We were guests of honor of the vice mayor. We were put in a nice hotel. It was quite fancy."

For Mohieddeen, who had just arrived in Beijing at the time, the experience, albeit bizarre, was an introduction to a side of China most foreigners will never see.

"It is part of what China is all about, you know," Mohieddeen said. "There is quite an elaborate fantasy world going on here where if everyone buys into it, it does not matter if it is the truth. Those kinds of experiences give me a fuller understanding of the way the culture works."
