Weird PS behaviour

Lately, when I'm using the Move tool (using the trackpad on my MBP) there's this problem when I let go of the trackpad the layer goes back to it's original position. I have my trackpad set to only click the cursor when the trackpad physically clicks.

I recently updated my monoprice tablet, so I thought that might be the problem, but I'm not even using it right now.

I'm stuck using the arrow keys to move layers around, it's ridiculous. CS5 on Mavericks.

Facebook TOS Jan 1

If you use Facebook, you've received a message saying the Terms of Service are changing on January first.

My first thoughts were apathetic as always. 'Oh, it's not a big deal, there's no more privacy anymore anyway' and 'Facebook won't use my stuff, who cares', etc.

But, after reading a couple of articles, I can see this being a problem for some of you/us. As a photographer, I share a lot of stuff on facebook because friends and family use Facebook and like to see what I'm doing.

But maybe it's time to stop using Facebook.

Read this article by the American Society of Media Photographers.…

A quote from the article:

"For instance, imagine that a client comes to you in a few months and wants to license an image from you for exclusive commercial use. If that image is posted on Facebook, you would not be able to offer exclusivity to that client because Facebook’s preexisting license to that image would be a conflict. If you were to go through with that agreement, you could be in breach of one contract or the other."

A good ready for photographers and other artists.

Lightroom questine.

Is there a way to turn off the message that says "Press F to exit full screen mode"?

I use cmd-shift-f a lot to display an image without all the clutter, and I like to quickly display it this way when showing images to others. That message is driving me nuts, it shows up in the middle of the image for a second and then fades away. After seeing that 10000 times I don't need the reminder any more.

Android vs iOS

Lightbox that works on mobile?

I'm looking for a jquery lightbox that also works well on mobile. So far I've found a lot that won't even load the images on iOS. Others have controls that are tiny or only visible on hover which makes it a bit useless/confusing for mobile users.

Just need a simple lightbox that looks good. Seems like there would be a ton of these, but I've had no luck.

T-shirt printers in EU?

Hi, I need someone to print me a small run of shirts, about 40 or 50 total. It's for a band. Need them shipped to Germany. I'm hoping to find a digital screen printer as the design will be a full colour photo.

CSS Help. (Easy?)

I know html and css pretty well, I think. But I'm trying to do something that isn't working. I thought it would work easily, but it's not.

I have a navigation div where I want the buttons to be aligned to the right. Easy enough with text-align:right applied to #nav a. Then I figured I could apply background-color to the #nav a, and the background-color would only extend the length of the navigation text. But, instead the background colour is extending all the way across the width of the nav.

Super simple code:
<div id="nav">
<a href="#">Nav Option #1</a>
<a href="#">Nav Option Number 2</a>
<a href="#">Nav Option The Third</a>
<a href="#">Nav Option Four</a>

and the CSS is:
#nav {
width: 160px;
background-color: #428698;
position: absolute;
font-weight: 700;
text-transform: uppercase;
padding-left: 8px;
#nav a {
background-color: #53b1ff;
padding-top: 10px;
padding-bottom: 10px;
padding-right: 14px;
margin-bottom: 2px;
letter-spacing: 0.1em;
text-align: right;
color: #FFF;
text-decoration: none;

What I'm getting is this:

But what I WANT is this:

I tried using <ul> and <li> tags instead of just the straight <a>, but got the same problem. Help?

Afraid of Google…

“We are afraid of Google,” Mr. Döpfner wrote. “I must say this so clearly and honestly since scarcely one of my colleagues dares to do this publicly. And as the biggest of the small fry, we must perhaps be the first to speak plainly in this debate.”…

Shirts in Amsterdam

Looking for someone to do a short run of shirts in Amsterdam. Probably looking to do a digital screen print of a colour photo, and maybe a traditional screen print. Small number of shirts, less than 50.

Anyone know anyone?

Adobe Flash Player

I updated Flash Player yesterday and now I'm getting a message in Safari... "Plug-In Failure". I tried updating again, and checked my Safari prefs to make sure plug-ins are on.

I'm cut off from Youtube! Noooo! HTML5 Player, Why Have You Forsaken Me?

OSX 10.9.2 Mavericks
Safari 7.0.3

Anyone else having this problem?

After hearing about hacking of public wifi networks by Canada's spy agency at an airport, as well as regular ol' hacking on public networks all over the world, I've been considering paying for a VPN.…

I don't care about getting around content blocks. TV is boring, anyway. I just want to keep my activities private. I travel a lot, and leaving Canada means paying a LOT for international mobile data, or relying on public wifi. I'd rather just get a VPN and use public wifi.

So, what do you guys use?

Site Category, blocked by

A friend of mine emailed me to tell me my website is blocked at her work. She works for the government and they have site-blockers running all the time. She said "the browser thinks it's a gambling site".

There's nothing on the site that even remotely suggests it would have something to do with gambling.

What can I do?

Ugh, my sister found THIS in a piece of chicken from a KFC here in Canada. What is it???

Just to be safe.

Quality Birthday Network

Serious Questine

Is it possible/difficult to make a Chrome extension that would allow users to mark QBN threads as "Not Design Related" and then they would be instantly hidden from anyone who was using the plugin? It gets permanently hidden once three people mark the thread, which would help prevent people from sabotaging the project. Although, I'd be happy to risk losing a few good threads if it eliminated all the bullshit on here.

We could be our own moderators. The rest of us could stop being distracted by the useless threads.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this. Maybe I'll just look for somewhere else to hang. Easier.

Questine about Chrome

I have this weird thing happening on the homepage for my site.

If I scroll up with my mouse (I shouldn't be able to scroll up, it's the top of the page) the page sort of disconnects from the browser and I see this grey background. I can move the site left, right, up or down with my scroll ball. But, it's not actually scrolling, it's moving the page.

It's hard to explain. Imagine it's like the whole page is a layer in photoshop that I'm moving with the move tool, and the grey area is like the transparency behind.

There's no grey background set on my site. It's just white. It's super simple code. Just a two-column responsive layout. A bit of text and some images inside. No floats. Nothing remotely fancy. At first I thought it had something to do with Positioning in CSS. But, all the other pages on the site are using the same structure and css file and they don't have this problem.

Anyone ever run into this? Know how to solve it? I tried Googling around, but I'm having a tough time describing it, as you can plainly see.

Do your bolds here.

Photo labs questine

Where do you print your photos? Looking for high quality. Canada preferred but not required. Occaisional enlargements, but I'm also in a mood to print a ton of 4x6s.

Simple password questine

I'm trying to get make a page that has a simple password protection. My original plan was to use cpanel, but then I need a login/password combination for the directory.

This isn't a secure password, it will be given to a hundred people or so. We just don't want to give the public access. So really, what I want is just a single form field, and when you type in the correct keyword, you get access to the page.

This seems really simple, but I've been googling around for it, and unfortunately every article I find has to do with proper passwords, strength, security, verification, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
