there was a really cool ambient art dvd that was pretty popular 'round here a while ago... it was something like 10 short films all set to music - all ambient colors etc. well-designed. i have googled everything i can possibly remember....

one of my friends who's still in college was just given this assignment by his journalism professor:

MEDIA COLD TURKEY
No texting, calling, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, iTunes, internet, etc. for two days. No media interaction or usage whatsoever. You can: read books / newspapers (printed versions, of course) / magazines / talk / write.

i think i could do no internet (done it before) but no music? no freaking way.

everything else is a pantone #... for now, i opened the CI up in illy and copied the swatch over - and i have the CMYK percentages...

we are a marketing company that is pitching to a big big big company in the UK to be their agency... they sent an RFP etc. we've done a lot of work for them before, just on a contract basis.

my opinion: we show our work with their company in our format with our identity and our CI guidelines.

the prez's opinion: we show our work with their company in their format with our identity, but totally based on their CI guidelines - their fonts etc.

i think that to vomit up their CI guidelines in a RFP response / pitch is like saying "hi, we're not creative at all, but we're really good at mimicking."

perused the business card thread for examples, but didn't see any...

we just opened an office in lausanne and the boss wants to look swish and have it on everything. using it as an excuse to do a full-on rebrand... but it looks crazy busy.

so, web is not my game and i don't feel like learning flash / css / etc. in two months as i have a ishload of other stuff to do.

i've been chatting with a semi-known web development / interactive place out here in denver... and i want a second & third bid.

here's what i need:

one (1) main flash-y site for skincare brand. five or six sub-pages over monochrome photography, music, reeeaallllly minimal / chic / slick... nothing too complicated or

one (1) shopify css skin to match above site (super-easy solution for e-commerce - we don't want to break the bank on round one, but we don't want people emailing us to order ish...)

anyone? even if you don't wanna bid, anyone have a reasonable idea of cost? just throw numbers at me.

okay, so this is very very rough draft, but... in doing a center align on the 'you' and the 'beauté', it looks great with the guides. then when guides are gone, it looks lop-sided. any thoughts on correct alignment / guidance?

trying to free transform a photo in illy to fit a perspective view... and i'm hitting the right key combo, but when i get one corner just right, it snaps back to 90 degrees as if i didn't do anything.

hi - this is a long shot... does anyone know where they print those crappy cheapo neon-colored concert posters that are all over telephone poles in LA? they are usually for things like 'NEW CREDIT REPORT' or 'LOSE WEIGHT' or 'LA GRAN BANDA ABRIL 18'.... i am working on a weird school project and i need to get some made...

so i have a DXF from autocad i pulled into illy - everything is fine and dandy except my walls simply will not be filled.

they are autocad polylines that i don't know how to join into one complex shape that can be filled... anyone know the answer? it's probably super-noob and obvious. the walls in question are the thick black outlines below...
