What are we going to do if this epidemic reaches out-of-control proportions? I am driving 40-50 miles a day for work and its starting to add up quickly. When is it to much a gallon? Personally, if this hits $3.50 per gallon...

Long story short—I submitted a label design to the Biltmore Winery 2010 Christmas label design competition and was selected as one of the top 5 finalists. (I am honored.) As a professional designer, I am somewhat shocked that bad design could win this out without your help—the design community.

I would just ask you to please vote for mine (the one with the red house, colored lines and snowflake made from the bottles and wine glasses). It's titled "Wine Glass & Bottle Snowflake". As design/dev professionals here, I would think you'd like that best anyway. ;)

I got to pull out all the stops now as this is becoming more of a popularity contest now than a design contest.

How many people are frustrated with/at work? How many people love their work?

Sometimes I think the only way I will truely be happy (creatively) is to be out doing my own thing. That or if a giant bird flew out of the sky with a bag of money and threw it at me.

Company X (small) offered me a design position, which is great. I have a lot of friends there, and they have a lot of fun on the job. My problem is, I have an interview at company Y (large) and have a good shot of getting a position there. Thinking about my career 10 years down the road, working at company Y (large) and having the quality of work they produce will look good in my book and my resumé.

I already turned down company X (small) once. I think they have expressed a lot of interest and time into me, and I know if I turned them down again, they'd be really upset. Arguably, pissed off.

SO, do I go into company Y(large), and try hard to get in with them there? OR go to company X (small) and see what happens?

I have a potential client that wants a small brochure website; actually all she said she wants is a blog. How do I go about setting up a blog for someone else? I mean, wouldn't that just be easier for her to sign up and get a blogger/wordpress/ account?

If I decide to design & build her a site from scratch, how easy would it be for someone that knows nothing about HTML to edit the site? Can I incorporate blog software into an HTML site?

Sorry for so many questions.

Funny client meeting Jan 8, 10, 8:51 a.m.

So there I was, along with other members of my team, about to finish up a great presentation for a client. Big meeting; a new rebrand and the entire 2010 campaign. We were showing a few screens about social media/sharing videos on YouTube—I happened to just find one of the first videos I came across and used a screenshot in my presentation.

All of a sudden the owner of the company goes, "Did you guys read the first post on this YouTube page?"
