Will this work? CS-Cart Feb 24, 10, 8:08 a.m.
I am reviewing options for setting up an online store for selling music stuff (vinyl / cd)
I have found this e-commerce php product:
http://www.cs-cart.com/
Its price point looks good and seems to cover all the bases on a first look.
Anyone have experience with this CS-Cart?
Does anyone know of any other affordable options like this?
will need to:
-manage customers and pricing by specific log in groups
-upload catalog items and have audio samples, images & description
-maintain database of 10,000+ items
-process orders & payment
-wish list function (saving wanted items to order at a later date)
-would like to have email when available (if out of stock)
-must be customizable in regards to layout, color, design
-implementation needs to be done by web savvy but non-programmer types
etc...
any insight would be great.
thanks.

Trainspotting Art / Design Sep 10, 09, 8:43 a.m.
the term trainspotting has been used in music circles for the obsession of trying to spot the song being played or the samples within it...
over the years as i learn more about Art & Design history i keep realizing that i've seen some of this stuff before in various placements sometimes remixed & reworked, often just re-used as is...
Its kind of like finding that original song that has been sampled in a recent tune. it gives you another dimension to it all.
here's only a few examples:
Josef Muller Brockmann (*of Grid systems fame) - 1950's Swiss Designer - Public Service Poster
Shephard Fairey - Obey With Caution version 2002-2006
Marcel Duchamp - Rotorelief 1926:
Flexitone - Rotorelief - US Picture Disc 12" 1995:
A.M. Cassandre - L'intransigent 1925 (art for a newpaper):
FOG - Electricity - Belgian Record Sleeve 1989:
Marcel Duchamp Etant Donne 1944-1966:

Eno / Dawkins talk in UK Sep 1, 09, 9:29 a.m.
"Richard Dawkins in his crystalline manner has enhanced the understanding of the process and beauty of evolution through his books, while Brian Eno's compositions, electronic painting installations and productions are a beautiful demonstration of the evolutionary process of creativity.
This is a rare opportunity to observe the thought processes of two remarkably prolific individuals as they discuss the experience and creativity of our world"

Sounds like an interesting talk. Eno is a prolific electronic artist and i've seen some interesting discussions from Richard Dawkins on www.ted.com
location Oxford, UK - this friday Sept. 4
