So here is the deal. I work as a freelance designer in sydney...i have my own studio and a handful of clients that gets me by and hire other contractors when I get more jobs then I can handle...the work is O.K but I feel I need to be inspired....local scene here is really adversing focused not design agency focused the industry is too small and there is only a handful of good design studios that wold expect you to work for peanuts...but thats another story

I have been seeing this girl for a year an a half...I am pretty sure i want to marry her..first chick in a long time I am sure about...I really do love her....... but we are at different stages of life....just before I met her I won a green card to the US lottery and i guess my dream was to work for 2 years in NYC for an experience...I am 30 years old she is 23....she just found out she might get in to medicine in canberra 4 hour drive from me....she doesn't know if she should take it...but I don't want her resenting me if she doesn't....I don't think I would move there as canberra is kind of a dead city and it would effect our relationship....So do I ditch the girl and move to nyc and try my luck there...even though this could be the love of my life....or stick around and try do the long distance thing seeing here every 2 weeks for the next 4 years and stay in sydney with my average job or move in to adversting...obviously NYC is a dream but not enough to resent her for making me stay though....

on another note can you guys send me some links to brand/design (across media) focused agencies based in NY I don't want to work in advertising doing banner campaigns i NY...places similar to method.com and hyperakt design group

trying to come up for a theme for my 28th bday party....pretty much need a theme where girlie's are gonna want to get excited about....not interested in cliche themes like james bond etc...Ideally would love to have a robert palmer theme where dudes dress to the nines and the girls are dressed in skimpy outfits....with that late eighties American physco coke wall street vibe...but not sure how to illustrate that one on a invite with out doing a shoot. IDEAS?

their cms looks slick...has any one build a commercial CMS this good for designers to adapt and resell to their clients...that flash cms is much responsive then any Flex CMS I have seen..the design is simple and adaptable...they should really commercialize their CMS.

alot of people are redesigning their sites in html because it easier for SEO...you can SEO in flash but its a bit of a process....my thought on this do I want the sort of clients that are finding me via a search engine...or would I rather our website be a site thats just an extension of our folio online that are clients can look at that we have gotten via referrals...focus on the site having more interesting visual content...

do I want a client that has to go to google that types in "webdesign".. I am typing in web design in google I get a list of sites that are design studios in india or butt ugly sites that have stupid amounts of copy and meaningless blogs on their site for SEO...

From my experience the clients we have gotten via passing traffic have been painful clients with no budgets.

Is good design getting lost in SEO what happen to less is more? the images should really be the key point....right??....thoughts?

maybe the answer is to focus on getting mentioned on other sites articles blogs externally from yours to boost SEO...rather then jeopardizing your aesthetics???

I was gonna book the accomidation before Ileft australia but I figure it my be worth gettting some suggestions by a few peeps rather then get ripped off from a travel agent. I am just finishing a week in NZ here boarding..weather has been terrible no snow this year which is unfortunate, so I have been brusing myself in the park the whole time... I am booked to go to europe mar/apr next year either italy france...I really want to go on a freeride tour around the alps of snowboaring I am going by myself- I am trying to look for a package deal somewhere on the web....the only thing I can find is http://www.chaletsnowboard.co.uk… but it looks like their camp is all park....does anyone else know of any other packages that any other resorts/challets run?....I liek the idea of a snowboard safari?...anyone know people doin it?
