Looking for a video... Jan 19, 12, 10:09 a.m.
It was an animation done not all that long ago. Started with lots of awesome character 3D, and the graphic style changes between video game styles.. full 3D, 8 bit, 16 bit, etc.. culminating with a helicopter fight.
Thought I had it saved in my vimeo but can't seem to find it! No idea who made it or the exact date.
Gnomon Master Classes 2011 Oct 5, 11, 1:58 p.m.

C4D / Shadow Issue Sep 26, 11, 12:37 p.m.
Hoping for leads from the few cinema 4d users we got here. I'm rendering a simple scene, which has a light behind a set of wooden "blinds", and a text object in front of the blinds. The blinds open, the shadows are cast from behind the text. Simple.
Sample render:

Issue I'm having is with the shadows. Every frame, the shadows jump super noticeably. What is causing this? I've tried everything I can think of. Shadow depth, global illumination, ambient occlusion, all with the same results. The scene / geometry are super simple! Please help me make sense of this.
My car was totaled Aug 17, 11, 11:47 a.m.
My 10 year loyal Honda Civic SI was crushed this weekend by a drunk driver (while parked, no injuries). Just got word from insurance that it's totaled, not surprised about that.
Car shopping has begun. I have a $10k check coming at me, figure I'll use it as a down payment on something. Suggestions? I want something I can tow a dirt bike with.
Particle Designer Jul 29, 11, 6:14 p.m.
This is a cool app I came across while looking for ways to implement a trapcode particular-like effect into an iPhone app. Only $8, and really easy to use.
Haven't tried the integration into a project yet.. that bit of trial and error will be going on this weekend. Worth checking out, IMO.
Skittles "Newlyweds" Jul 22, 11, 2:04 p.m.
I have no idea what to think of this. I can't imagine it's an official Skittles spot.. what do you think?
NSFW, btw
Crowdsourcing.. how to? Jul 19, 11, 12:04 p.m.
Hey everyone, here's the skinny. I'm in this punk band, been playing for about 9 months, and none of us can agree on a band name. Literally hundreds have been thrown around.. some silly, some serious.. but none of us can agree on any of them.
We had the idea to somehow crowdsource the naming. Let people we know suggest / vote on names, and whichever one wins, that person gets $100 and we use that name. Basically, remove our own minds from the equation and see what people come up with.
Are there any sites out there that would manage something like this? Let us set up a page that we can send to friends, and that lets them participate in the process?
I know crowdsourcing design is super shitty, but I think that doing it to name a band is kind of a fun and ridiculous thing to do. We'd take over design and branding once the name was chosen, two of us are designers.
Also, suggest names here :) Thanks in advance.
F**k Yeah Fest! 2011 Jun 21, 11, 9:59 a.m.
Anyone in LA checking this out? The Descendants and Kid Dynamite are playing, among others..
Polar-to-Rect in Flash? Jun 13, 11, 4:06 p.m.
I realize I'll get few of the answers I need here, but I am desperate!
I need to convert a polar image (from a 360˚ camera) to a cartesian (rectangular) image using Actionscript.
I've found samples using things like processing or C++, but haven't found any that do it in Flash in a reliable and efficient way.
Here is a processing sample of what I'm trying to achieve:
http://www.gaffta.org/tag/dewarp…
Does anyone here know a resource that can pull this off, or have a sample project anywhere? The math seems fairly straightforward, but getting it all to work in Flash is boggling me, and I've wasted a whole day on bogus code I've found on the nets.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
